Last Post

Not sure how much this matters anymore, but I figure, why not one last post?

Anyway, I thought my final animation came out pretty decent. It was a little too fast for my taste in some areas, but worked well in others. I wish I could've added more, however, time prevented me from really making it longer. I think some kind of music would've helped also. Maybe at some point in the future I'll go back and take the time to make it better.

Everyone else did a great job on theirs too. It was definitely a different experience working in a 3D environment like that, but really interesting. If anything, it at least makes me appreciate 3D animators much, much more. (Not that I never did before!)

Full Black and White Colored Dr. G

Thought I'd post the "colorized" version of Dr. G. I'm still working on the background, or "atmosphere", but hopefully that will be done over the weekend so I can start animating.

Preparing for Animation

Nothing much to post about, except I'm getting ready to start my short animation. I still have some things to work out on my character, and then I'll have to make the backdrop. I'm thinking my character will be skiing down a hill and off a jump in an attempt to fly...which fails, of course, since penguins can't fly. I think it might be funny if he fell onto a tree branch that would fling him back up onto the slop where he started, but that might make take too long to make. I guess I'll see what I can actually get done before making things too complicated for the amount of time I have to work in.

Dr. G

These are some shots from my character model. He's a penguin named Dr. Guin, or Dr. G, as everyone calls him, and recieved his degree in flying.

Sketch for Character Modeling

This is just a quick sketch of my character that I'll be doing for the character modeling.

Hammer

Finally, an update.

After some frustration and headache, I managed to make the hammer from the manual...a similar one at least. Maya still gives me problems, but I think I'm starting to understand some of its properties.

Trying to make a paperclip is proving difficult, at least more difficult than I thought. Working with Maya will take some time to get used to.

Yay, a first post.
